Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A convicted rapist who has been accused of savagely beating a Mattydale boy is facing additional charges on Tuesday following an appearance in Town of Clay Court.
Scott Miles, 35, is already charged with burglary, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and child endangerment. Now, Onondaga County Sheriff’s Investigators say Miles also violated the New York State Sex Offender Registration Act.

According to the investigators, Miles used an assumed name on his Facebook account after the victim in his September assault recognized his picture online.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on the new charge Tuesday afternoon in Town of Clay Court.
Miles is a level 3 sex offender. He was arrested on Jan. 11 on the initial charge.
He went to prison for assaulting a 14-year-old girl and an 18-year-old girl in 1998.

Mattydale (WSYR-TV) - A man is behind bars, accused in the brutal beating of a 12-year-old Mattydale boy.
Registered sex offender and convicted rapist Scott Miles has been charged with burglary, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and child endangerment.
Investigators say the child was sleeping inside his apartment at Orchard Estates in the early morning hours of Sept. 22 when a man broke in and assaulted him.
The child’s mother was not home at the time, but he was sleeping in her bed. Investigators are looking into whether she was the intended target in the incident.
Investigators searched Miles’ Wilshirl Road residence last week. According to the District Attorney’s office, the victim recognized Miles’ picture while his mother was chatting with the 35-year-old on Facebook. The prosecutor says that neither the boy nor the mother knew Miles.
The assault occurred between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. The boy was hurt so badly that his injuries were considered life threatening, but he pulled through. After the attacker left, the boy went to a relative’s home for help.
The bizarre incident left investigators baffled for months until the arrest.
He was arraigned on the charges last week and is being held without bail. He is a registered sex offender who went to prison for assaulting a 14-year-old girl and an 18-year-old girl in 1998.
