Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - If you saw tons of butterflies today, you’re not alone. Some Central New Yorkers have reported seeing them by the hundreds.

The have been spotted in Fulton, North Syracuse, Camillus and Sandy Creek, along with many other places.

Based on photos shared on 9WSYR.com and NewsChannel 9’s Facebook page, they appear to be Red Admiral butterflies. We’re reaching out to experts to confirm what type of butterflies they could be.

The Red Admiral migrates north in the spring from the southern part of North America.
