Syracuse (AP/WSYR-TV) - Syracuse moved into the second spot Monday, its highest ranking since 1989-90, but Kansas is still the runaway number 1 in The Associated Press' college basketball poll. Syracuse also moved up a spot in the Coaches Poll, and Cornell moved up from 25th to 22nd. Cornell had never been ranked before last week’s poll.

Syracuse moved up one place and had eight first-place votes. It is the highest ranking for Syracuse since a six week stretch at number one in 1989-90.
In the USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll, which ranked Cornell for the first time in school history last week, the Big Red moved up three spots. Syracuse, with one first-place vote, moved up one from fourth to third.
