Syracuse man who set fatal fire sentenced

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Syracuse man who a set fire that led to the death of an elderly man in the Tipperary Hill area was sentenced on Tuesday.

Shayne Davis pleaded guilty to first degree manslaughter and one count of arson in October.

He has been sentenced to two concurrent 25-year prison terms.

In July, Davis was arrested on charges that he was responsible for multiple fires in the Tipperary Hill area, including the blaze that took the life of 90-year-old Fred Brown.

At the time of his arrest, police charged Davis for setting six fires in May and June. He was suspected of setting others.
