Syracuse officer retiring after 42 years of service
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A Lieutenant with the Syracuse Police Department has retired after spending more than 40 years serving the city.
Lieutenant John Corbett started with the department back in 1972 and in that year, he helped track down a suspect who robbed a bank in Camillus after recognizing the person he saw in a bulletin.
After 42 years of helping to keep the public safe, he is stepping down and says that he is happy to serve as long as he did.
“The things I like most about the job are the people, humor and the action. And really that's the approach I have taken for the entire time I have been here,” Corbett said.
Corbett says he can leave the job because of the support he receives from his family.
