Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- A pair of suspected thieves apparently did their homework before scoring big on the Syracuse University campus.
A college campus is a place of learning, but some thieves see it as a land of opportunity.
“Whether they’re looking for an open door, or a car, there are electronics around that are very easy to pawn or dispose of on the street for drugs or cash, so the university does become a target environment.” Syracuse Police Sergeant John Savage said.
The target date was September 5 and Syracuse police believe 24-year-old Anthony McAlpine and 25-year-old Marvin Regis had it all planned out. The two men are suspected of walking into Slocum Hall and walking out with thousands of dollars worth of electronics.
“They victimized a great number of people in this. Some of the items were recovered and a large number were not,” Sgt. Savage said.
Now comes the task of finding McAlpine and Regis. A third man who was with them has already been caught.
“We do believe they’re in Syracuse, but we are exploring out of town addresses as well,” Sgt. Savage said.
