Syracuse teen indicted on South Side shooting death charges

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A 19-year-old Syracuse man who police say shot and killed a man on the city’s South Side was indicted on Thursday.

Demetrius Hackett was indicted on multiple charges including second degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

According to Syracuse Police, Hackett shot and killed Chance Gathers in retaliation for the shooting death of his brother – 23-year-old Pierre Hackett – whose murder has never been solved.
