Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Syracuse woman was arrested on Tuesday morning after police say she stabbed her 52-year-old boyfriend in the chest.

According to police, the weapon 39-year-old Crystal Ash used lacerated Gregory Moore’s heart and he was taken to Upstate University Hospital in critical condition.

After emergency surgery, police say Moore is expected to survive.

Police say the incident at 127 South Ave. developed out of a fight between the two people.

In addition, they say Ash violated a court order of protection, which states that she can’t harass, annoy or assault Moore.

She was charged with assault in the first degree, aggravated criminal contempt in the first degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

She was taken to the Onondaga County Justice Center to await arraignment in Syracuse City Court.
