Fire rips through Boonville buildings
Boonville (WSYR-TV) – A Boonville man has been charged with arson in connection to a fire that destroyed one building and heavily damaged
another in the village last week.
The Oneida County District Attorney’s Office confirmed that 34-year-old David Geer started the fire when a lit cigarette ignited a mattress in his apartment on Main Street.
They say Geer prevented his neighbors from entering the building to put out the fire.
No one was injured during the blaze but more than two dozen were displaced.
Geer was charged with second degree arson and arraigned in Steuben Town Court.
He was taken to Oneida County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail.
