Syracuse (WSYR-TV/CNN) - Less than 24-hours after President Obama won re-election, an online petition was set up for Louisiana asking the federal government for permission to secede from the union. Petitions were then created for another 21 states.
Among the most popular, are online petitions in Texas and Alabama.
Tens of thousands believe it’s time for their state to secede.
Although Gov. Rick Perry doesn’t support such a move, Texas has amassed approximately 65,000 such signatures by mid morning on Tuesday, according to CNN
Such a petition must have 25,000 signatures in order to compel the White House to respond within 30 days. Texas has surpassed the mark many times over.
Among the other states that have generated petitions are South Dakota, West Virginia, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Alaska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Utah, Wyoming, California, Ohio, New York, Delaware, Nevada, and Arizona.
