Tompkins County man found dead in Maryland

Ocean City (WSYR-TV) – Police in Maryland say a Groton man reported missing in April was found dead on Tuesday.

Ocean City Police responded to the report of a deceased person around 6:22 p.m. They identified the body of a man recovered by Coast Guard personnel from the water as that of 22-year-old Lance Corey Gaines.

Gaines was visiting Ocean City with his family. His body was sent to Maryland’s Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.

Police are investigating the cause and manner of Gaines’ death.
