Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - A truck driver involved in an accident that left an East Syracuse man dead on Sept. 30 has been issued a ticket.

Hal Wood, of Clifton Springs, received a ticket for following too closely and for speeding.

According to a State Police investigation, David Gorinshek ,  a Fairfield man who was arrested on Wednesday on several charges relating to the incident, and Wood were driving tractor trailers hauling garbage to a dump site in Seneca County, each for independent companies.

Gorinshek was driving a few lengths ahead of Wood in the passing lane and Michael Almy, who was killed in the crash, was in the right hand lane, near the back of Gorinshek's trailer.

Gorinshek hit his brakes when he saw a disabled vehicle ahead in the left hand lane and abruptly tried to maneuver into the right, forcing Almy off the road. Wood also saw the disabled vehicle and tried to move into the right lane, but with Gorinshek slowing down, he was pressed off of the road.

When Wood saw Almy's car, he swerved back into driving lane, but his trailer didn't make it and the rear axle wound up on top of Almy's car.

Wood was embroiled in the accident, but Gorinshek continued ahead.

During their investigation, State Police sent troopers to Seneca Meadows to interview drivers who might have known who was involved in the incident. When they talked to Gorinshek, he said that he had driven by the scene after the accident, but he later told co-workers the truth about the incident. Meanwhile, Wood was offering his statement to the State Police.

Gorinshek was arrested for misleading State Police. He was also charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident and moving from a lane unsafely.
