SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Syracuse Police are investigating the robbery of two female Syracuse University students Sunday morning.

The incident happened around 2:30 a.m., in a parking lot behind 330 Ostrom Avenue.

Investigators say the victims were approached by a male who said he had a gun, but the weapon was never displayed.

The suspect demanded the victim's purse and the females resisted.

Police say a physical altercation broke out and one of the victims was punched and kicked in the head by the suspect. He was able to run away with the purse and was last seen on heading into Thorndon Park.

The victim suffered a minor injury to her lip and was treated at the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'10", medium build, wearing black gloves, a black ski mask, a black hooded sweatshirt, and dark pants. His age is unknown.

Anyone with information is asked to call Syracuse Police at 442-5222.
