Utica teacher pleads guilty to stealing student’s necklace, resigns
Utica (WSYR-TV) – A Utica teacher has pleaded guilty to charges relating to the theft of a student’s necklace in October 2012.
Initially charged with grand larceny, 33-year-old Crystal DeRosa pleaded guilty to petit larceny and endangering the welfare of a child.
She was accused of stealing the necklace off the neck of a 5-year-old student.
As part of her plea agreement, DeRosa was compelled to resign. She will be sentenced to house arrest and three years’ probation.
She also must pay $350 for restitution.
