Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Wireless carrier Verizon has told Wall Street analysts that customers with “grandfathered-in” unlimited data plans will have to switch to its tiered data system when they upgrade.

Verizon will unveil its data share pricing model by mid-summer. The idea is that users can buy a chunk of data that can be used with multiple devices on the same account - and would affect customers who have unlimited data plans that predate the company's shift to tiered plans.

Verizon says the plan is currently “paper, not actual.”
