Waterville man involved in Madison County accident dies at hospital
Lebanon (WSYR-TV) – A man who sustained critical injuries after a delivery vehicle rolled on top of him during an accident in Madison County passed away shortly after noon on Wednesday.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says that Jesse Eisenhut, 22, was filling up his truck after it ran out of gas on River Road when a delivery truck crashed into it from behind. The impact flipped Eisenhut’s vehicle onto its side, while he was thrown into a drainage ditch. The delivery vehicle then rolled onto its side and landed on Eisenhut.
Eisenhut had to be pulled out of the wreckage by emergency rescue personnel. The emergency helicopter’s landing was complicated by heavy fog in the area and Eisenhut had to be taken via Eaton Ambulance to a park in the village of Cazenovia. He was picked up by a Mercy Flight helicopter there and then taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.
The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the accident.
