Westhill High School cancels classes this Wednesday

Westhill (WSYR) -- Wednesday classes have been canceled at Westhill High School as the community continues to mourn the loss of student Anna Pullano, who was killed in a crash over the weekend.

According to investigators, a Centro bus was driving northbound on Comstock Avenue when a GMC Denali driven by Pullano was traveling west on Acorn Path and came into the path of the bus.

The accident occurred at 12:43 a.m.

Pullano was taken to Upstate Hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.

A counseling staff and teachers have been offering support to students coping with the tragic loss of their classmate.

Elementary and middle school classes will remain open.

Below is a statement from the Superintendent regarding Wednesday's closure:

"The entire Westhill school community is saddened and mourns the tragic death of Anna Pullano. Her upbeat and caring heart will always be remembered by friends, classmates and teachers. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Pullano family.

"Words alone cannot begin to express our grief.

"Counseling staff and teachers have been offering support to the student body as we find comfort through these difficult times.

Classes at the high school will be canceled on Wednesday to afford Anna's teachers and classmates time to celebrate her life. The elementary and middle school buildings will remain open on their regular schedule."
