Philadelphia (CNN/WSYR-TV) -- A congressman from Wisconsin is slamming what he calls a lack of attention given to the trial of a Philadelphia abortion doctor charged with murder.
Closing arguments in the case against Doctor Kermit Gosnell are expected Monday. He’s accused of killing babies just minutes after they were born.
Republican Congressman Sean Duffy took to the House floor to accuse activists and fellow politicians of largely ignoring the case.
"We're talking about an abortion clinic that provides late term, partial birth abortions where babies are born alive. There is no outrage? There is no story? Where's the NAACP for these minority babies? Where's La Raza? Where's the Black Congressional Caucus? Where is Maxine Waters? Where is the leader of the Democratic Party? Where are they lending their voice to these atrocities, this murder?" said an outraged Duffy.
"Meanwhile, in Philadelphia as dozens, if not hundreds of babies, have had their lives taken from them or they've been murdered, left to lay in cardboard boxes, left in toilets trying to swim for air, or they've had the backs of their necks snipped, basically decapitated. That kind of horror is being bestowed on children in America and yet - where is the media? =Where are the protests? Where are the congressional hearings? Listen - Where are parents on Air Force One flying to the White House having a meeting with the president? Where are the high powered meetings with the senators across the aisle? They are not happening," Duffy continued.
Gosnell is charged with four first degree murder counts for the deaths of four babies. The doctor’s attorney says the babies were already dead after Gosnell administered an abortion drug.
