Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - The Rosamond Gifford Zoo will offer a special thank you to servicemen and women on Thursday.
During Operation Salute, the zoo will be free to those who have served in Afghanistan and Iraq. The event corresponds with Flag Day and veterans and their families will be able to visit the zoo from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
“Just to enjoy the fact that they are back from a really tough mission, but one mission that we really appreciate and we want our community to be able to let them know how thankful and glad that we are that they did what they did,” said VA case manager Gregory Brown.
In addition to free admission, veterans will be able to park for free.
Last year, the event drew more than 500 people.
