Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – The Rosamond Gifford Zoo has said farewell to one longtime resident elephant but welcomed another one.

15-year-old Asian elephant “Doc” arrived at the zoo on Nov. 15. Doc arrived at the zoo from the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Center for Elephant Conservation.

Meanwhile, the zoo bid farewell to long-time resident bull “Indy.”

Born in Thailand in 1972, Indy has been in Syracuse since 1985. He sired seven calves during his time in the Salt City’s zoo.
