Georgetown 52 – Syracuse 50

It was the first season of the Big East and Syracuse had won 57-straight home games at Manley Field House. The Orange had one last game left to play at Manley, before moving on to the Carrier Dome the following season. The Hoyas came from behind to win by two.  After the game, Georgetown coach John Thompson Jr. declared “Manley Field House is officially closed.”  This is the game credited with starting the rivalry.
