Ithaca (WSYR-TV) – 20 Chihuahua mix dogs from the West Coast are looking for new homes in Central New York.

The Tompkins County SPCA and the Best Friends Animal Society picked up the dogs over the weekend after they were flown from Los Angeles to JFK Airport.

The dogs were scheduled to be euthanized after being housed in shelters in Los Angeles.

Littlestone Upholstery Designs owner Anne Steinle of Ithaca is donating handmade dog beds to send home with each dog as they are adopted as part of the “A Home for the Holidays” adoption campaign.

The adoption event was scheduled to begin at noon. The adoption fee is $250 for each dog in addition to the cost of the town dog license.

For more information on the dogs, email adoptions@spcaonline.com or call (607) 257-1822.

The event will continue until all of the dogs have found homes.
