Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Winter weather has caused a shortfall in blood donations. The recent nor-easter has forced the Red Cross to cancel more than 150 blood drives, which would have brought in nearly 7,000 blood and platelet donations.

Winter is already a slower time of the year for blood drives, but the weather has caused another drop in donations.

"Now is generally a low time anyways and then with these drives being cancelled, we look at the big picture. We collect 44,000 units of blood each day, each unit is a pint. That's what we want to do to meet our goals, explained Matt Michael with the Red Cross.

The Red Cross is hoping you’ll donate before another storm hits.
