The fall semester of The Morning News stock market game "Street Cents" is about to begin. Registration for the competition will end today at 5 p.m.
In the contest, classes are given animaginary $100,000 that they invest into four stocks. No more than half of the money can go into any one stock and penny stocks can't be picked.
Classes can only enter once, but teachers can register each sectionthey teach. Each team that enters the competition must have a nickname.There are 100 spots available for teams.
Standings will be compiled by Reagan Investing and posted on 9WSYR.com each day.
The fall semester of The Morning News stock market game "Street Cents" is about to begin. Registration begins Monday, September 13, 2010; you have until 5pm on Monday, September 27,2010 to sign up.
Here are the rules:
- Each classroom gets an imaginary $100,000.
- The class must pick four (4) stocks, no more than 50% of the money can be invested in any one stock. "Penny" stocks are not allowed.
- Each teacher is allowed one entry per classroom (If you teach several different classes, each class may enter).
- Each team MUST HAVE a nickname.
- To enter, teachers only (K-12), must send an email to themorningnews@9wsyr.com. Please list the ticker symbols of each stock and the amount of money you plan to invest in each stock.
- The competition begins on Monday, October 4, 2010 and concludes at the close of trading on Monday, November 15, 2010.
- Standings will be posted each daily at 9wsyr.com.
- Standings are compiled by Reagan Investing, Marcellus.
- The team with the highest profit margin at the end of the competition wins.
- The winners will be announced on The Morning News on Monday, November 22, 2010.
