SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - The Syracuse Convention and Visitors Bureau expects about $100,000 to be pumped into the local economy, as runners from 20 states and Canada participate in the race Sunday morning.
This is the first ever Syracuse Half Marathon that organizers hope will only grow and become an annual event.
Organizers decided to hold the event at this time, because they noticed a lapse in running events between the Shamrock Run and the first summer race in Central New York. They believe the timing of the race and its first year are the reasons they've had such a good response with 1,200 runners expected to participate.
The 13.6 mile course starts and ends at the Oncenter. Runners are expected to run through the streets in the areas of Armory Square, the Inner Harbor, Lyncourt and Eastwood. You can expect many road closures in those areas starting around 8:00 Sunday morning and lasting for a few hours. To view the speciffic roads that are affected, click

If you want to run and have not registered, you can still register online by clicking
