1 suspect in custody after robbery on Marshall Street

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Syracuse Police have arrested a man who they say robbed a 21-year-old woman on Marshall Street Thursday night.

Police responded to the reported robbery around 10:20 p.m.

The victim told police that two male suspects had approached. She said one of the suspects pushed her down and stole her purse.

After the victim described the suspects and the direction they left in, a Syracuse University Public Safety Officer stopped the male in Thornden Park.

16-year-old John Bryant of 116 Cumberland Ave. was charged with robbery in the third degree, a felony.

He was taken to the Justice Center.

Some of the items that were stolen were recovered.

The victim did not need medical attention.

The second suspect has not been taken into custody. Anyone with information that can help police should call (315) 442-5222.
