Eastwood (WSYR-TV) - Earth Day may have come and gone, but the fight to raise awareness about environmental issues is ongoing. Friday, a 15-year old spread his message about global warming to others at the Palace Theater in Eastwood.
When he was just 12-years-old, Alec Loorz founded Kids Versus Global Warming, because he was feeling the weight of the situation and sensed he could make a difference. "I just felt this sense of calling, that I was called to do something about this crisis. That I was being called to stop global warming within my lifetime."
Alec is now 15, and his goals haven't gotten any smaller. "I'm actually planning an event called the 'I Matter March,' it’s a million-kid march that I'm having all over the world, organized by kids who care about this issue and want their future to be a top priority."
He has given more than 30 presentations and in 2008, was invited by former vice president Al Gore to be formally trained with the climate project. He's the youngest trained presenter.
