Solvay (WSYR-TV) – Police say a 17-year-old Solvay High School student struck by a vehicle Saturday afternoon has died from his injuries.

The car/pedestrian accident happened just after 1pm on West Genesee Street in the village. 17-year-old Guy Lawyer was a student at the school. He died Monday night at University Hospital.

The police accident report said the driver, John Cannon of Syracuse, was heading east on West Genesee Street, passed a Centro bus, and struck Lawyer, who had run out into traffic in front of the bus.

Tuesday, grief counselors were on hand at Solvay High School to provide assistance to faculty and students.

Cannon was ticketed for aggravated unlicensed operation and misuse of a license plate.
