SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Thousands of runners took to the streets of Onondaga County on Sunday for the 2
nd Annual Empire State Marathon.
The race started and finished at Alliance Bank Stadium in Syracuse.
The course took runners along Onondaga Lake Park, into Liverpool, Baldwinsville and back.
More than 2,500 people from across the country and around the world took part in last year's run.
Syracuse native Teresa Girolamo drove up from Brooklyn to compete in the Marathon. She told NewsChannel 9 that the competitors and fans have been nothing but supportive.
"People and runners alike are wonderful. They’re just friendly you know. There weren’t any mean words anywhere. Everybody was just cheering on and that’s what I love to see, people out engaging in fitness," said Girolamo.
