Auburn (WSYR-TV) – The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has charged three people in connection to the theft of seven pit bull puppies
Tonya Henry, 28, of Auburn was arrested Wednesday evening. She was charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, a felony, and resisting arrest.
Ashley Montgomery, 27, and Cheyenne Whitmore, 21, were arrested Thursday afternoon.
Montgomery was charged with criminal possession of stolen property, while Whitmore was charged with burglary in the third degree and grand larceny in the third degree – both felonies.
All three were arraigned in Auburn City Court and remanded to the Cayuga County jail.
The puppies were reported stolen by owners in the town of Montezuma.
They were surrendered at a home in the city of Auburn, but deputies say none of the women arrested helped turn over the dogs.
The Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the incident.
