5 students hurt when NY school bus overturns
RUSHVILLE, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say five children are being treated for minor injuries after their school bus was hit by a pick-up truck and overturned along a rural Finger Lakes road.
The Ontario County Sheriff's Office tells local media outlets 26 students in grades three through 12 in the Marcus Whitman Central School District were aboard the bus during the collision around 7:30 a.m. at an intersection in Rushville, 35 miles southeast of Rochester.
The bus landed on its side in a corn field. Investigators say there was dense fog at the time.
School district officials say none of the students was seriously injured, but five and both drivers were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Deputies are investigating the cause of the crash.
