Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A judge in Syracuse has granted the New York State Attorney General’s office a temporary restraining order barring a North Side head shop from selling synthetic drugs.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman announced on Tuesday that he was suing numerous head shops across New York State.

He also indicated that he would pursue restraining orders to keep stores from selling synthetic drugs. Among those was a Twisted Headz location on North Salina Street in Syracuse.

Temporary restraining orders have already been issued for head shops in other cities, including GoodFellas Alternative Smoke Shop in Utica and several on Long Island and in Western New York.

The move is part of a general crackdown the AG’s office has launched against a drug that has increasingly been linked to bizarre and violent behavior in Central New York and beyond.

The Attorney General is attacking the manner in which the products are labeled, not the products themselves. He says the labeling of synthetic drugs often violates state law.
