Albany (WSYR-TV) – One of three puppies found abandoned and abused on a railroad track in New York’s Capital Region may soon be able to walk again.

A puppy named "Hudson" was found last month with his paw sawed off.

On Monday, doctors fitted him for a prosthetic paw. According to the Albany Times-Union, the procedure is rare.

The newspaper says the doctor made a molding of the puppy’s tiny paw. The molding will be sent to a prosthetics manufacturer in Canada and then the artificial paw will be returned to the Albany area.

All three puppies were brought in for medical treatment for infected wounds, malnutrition, and dehydration.

All three puppies appeared to have puncture wounds on their paws.

Two of the three puppies survived the ordeal.

Police are still looking for the person who abandoned the dogs.
