Let's get real here..... When was the last time anyone ever heard of someone being seriously injured , in the city, at one of the proposed intersections. These cameras are nothing more than a way to make moeny so the recipients of that money can spend it like a bunch of drunken sailors on shore leave after a 6 month subsurface deployment in a submarine.

Judge; Yes. Your car, your ticket. What a great land we live in. All these toys and technology, and they use it to rape the worker ants. Its all ok, until the worker ants get tired of getting s**t on....

So am I getting a ticket in the mail if my son runs a red light in my car? We look so much alike it's difficult to tell us apart even if they use Facial Recognition Technology. (Which I doubt because it's too expensive to use on all cameras.) And OK say the fine is $50, there is also a $55 court fee that hasn't been mentioned whether you plead guilty by mail or in person. The only way to avoid a court fee is to go to trial and win. Does the camera recognize me in the dark, or mostly snow-covered windshield? I gotta say if I got a ticket in the mail I'd fight it, nothing to lose but time.

If you are going to ban cell phones while driving and texting while driving . . . how about the people who have pets on their laps while driving????? Just as dangerous in my book.

These automated systems were starting to go up in another state that i lived in. They claimed it was for our safety, but in reality it is just another way to boost revenue for people "breaking" the law without a police officer present. You will get a picture of your car conducting the act with a ticket in the mail. Oh yeah another note as well. This case they caught me with my back tires not crossed the other side of the white line when the camera turned red. They also mentioned that i was going 4mph over the pseed limit. So you can guess whats next.

No Smallz, someone will just have to scrape you up. Or the poor innocent b*****d you kill..Hows that for reality?

LOWGEAR - 4/15/2009 11:19 AM
For those of you not wanting to pay fine , JUST obey the law.

While I support stronger traffic enforcement - I see people ignoring the "Stop, then turn" on red light law all the time, I am against the automated systems. They can be wrong, and they make no allowance for circumstance (such as the occasional winter slide-through), and the tickets are automatic. Worse yet, these machines have too often become revenue sources for cities, rather than traffic enforcement devices, and that brings corruption to the process.

My thoughts exactly ADK46. Unless they plan to disable these "automatic ticket traps" during inclement weather, there will be many accidents in every intersection. In the real world, it is sometimes impossible to stop @ an intersection without being rear-ended in the middle of a snow-storm. Lets get real with this, I see enough near misses in the winter here, why add more of a risk? I'm all in favor of better traffic safety, but I don't see this helping out much, if at all...
