Ithaca (WSYR-TV) - After hours of negotiations, a standoff in Ithaca is over.
Police were called to the 100 block of East State Street around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.
Officers heard 33-year old Ricardo Williams throwing items and yelling behind a closed door of the apartment, stating that anyone who came through the door would get stabbed in the face.
When Williams suddenly opened the door, police say they saw him making stabbing motions toward officers with a butcher style knife.
After one officer deployed a taser, Williams reportedly barricaded the apartment door and ended communication with the officers, prompting them to call the Ithaca Swat Team and the Critical Incident Negotiation team.
Several hours later, with no response from Williams, police used a robot camera to scope out the apartment before officers were sent inside. While Williams still had possession of the knife, swat members were able to take him into custody.
Williams faces charges of menacing in the second degree during his arraignment in Ithaca City Court.
