Deerfield (WSYR-TV) – The Oneida County Sheriff’s Office announced on Friday that it arrested a man they believe murdered Jennifer Bennett in January 2007.
Bennett’s body was discovered on Jan. 11, 2007 behind the Deerfield Fire House Pavilion at 5476 Trenton Rd. Her body was discovered by people sledding nearby. Bennett had last been seen by her mother on January 7 at her home in Utica.
In September 2011, investigators got a hit from the state DNA Database indicating that DNA evidence from the victim matched that of Craig Ingersoll of Herkimer Road in Utica.
On Thursday, Sheriff’s Investigators arrested the 30-year-old Utica man and charged him with murder in the second degree, along with criminal sexual act in the first degree, a felony.
Ingersoll was arraigned in Village of New York Mills Court and jailed without bail.
