Auburn (WSYR-TV) – Auburn Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred on Grant Avenue Thursday morning.

Police say the robbery occurred at a Bank of America location. It was reported just before 10:15 a.m.

Police say the suspect - a white male wearing a dark hat and a bandana - entered the bank and jumped over a counter at one of the teller stations. They say he demanded money, but did not brandish a weapon. The teller handed the suspect money and then he placed it in a bag, fleeing the building.

Witnesses told police that the suspect fled to a treeline in between the bank property and Standart Woods Apartments.

In addition to the hat and the bandana, they say the suspect was wearing a white checkered hooded jacket, baggy blue jeans, and dark colored sneakers.

They say more information on their investigation will be released shortly.

Anyone with information should call the Auburn Police Department at (315) 253-3231 or lead investigators Detective Bryant Bergenstock at (315) 258-9880 or Detective Patrick Shea at (315) 255-4703. Tips can also be left at http://www.auburnpolice.com/tip.
