BBB Alert: Facebook scam circulating via email
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Facebook users are being warned of a new scam targeting them via email.
Here’s how it works: You’ll get a suspicious email telling you they’ve received an account cancellation request. You’re then urged to follow a link to cancel the request – don’t click on it. If you do, you’ll download a code that will allow hackers to spy on your activities and take control of your computer.
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) has more information and screen shots of this scam on their website.
