Ithaca (WSYR-TV) -- Ithaca police say a 16-month old baby girl fell from a third floor window at Fall Haven Apartments on Thursday.
According to police, the baby, who was in the care of family and neighbors at the time of the incident, was conscious, crying and alert when she was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital.
Police say the baby had fallen through an open screened window located less than a foot above the living room floor and fell about 14 feet to a grassy area below. The baby’s mother had left the room for a moment to fix a bottle when the incident occurred, police said.
An investigation continues. However, police say the incident appears to be accidental.
