We are coming to an end of a fairly wet stretch of weather here in central New York.  It started with some steady rain Tuesday evening and we have had showers on and off since then.  Officially in Syracuse we’ve had a bit more than an inch of rain during that time. That may seem like a rainy stretch of weather but just look at Orlando.  They’ve had 16 straight days with at least a trace of rain!  For the month, their rain total is more than 14 inches.

The good news is we will sweep this moisture to our east today.  A cold front will move through by early afternoon and even though it may be a bit cloudy behind that front we expect enough dry air to move in to allow for some sunshine from late afternoon into the evening.

The problem is to get the moisture air out we will also be cooling down.  One cold front comes through Friday night but a more important push comes through close to sunrise Sunday. We are kind of jinxed when it comes to weather on Sunday’s.  This will be the 3rd Sunday out of 4 with blustery and cooler than normal weather. There is, however, a bit of discrepancy amongst our computer models as to how cold it will get.  The NAM is the coldest and has been suggesting only mid 50s.  The other models are all warmer and the GFS points toward the low 60s.  Because the GFS did the best with these cool snaps earlier in May we are siding with this model.  Still the 62 we have right now is about 10 degrees below normal.

Enjoy your weekend in spite of this cooler weather.
