Baldwinsville School Board votes to keep Van Buren Elementary open
Baldwinsville (WSYR-TV) -- The Baldwinsville School Board voted not to close Van Buren Elementary school Monday night.
School board members tabled the vote last month, saying they needed more time to review the plans and to make a final decision.
Parents argued that closing the school would negatively impact students.
Van Buren was originally chosen for closure because it’s one of the oldest and smallest elementary buildings in the district and closing it over any other school would affect the least amount of students.
The move was expected to save the district $1.3-million.
