'Bear' the dog no longer living under porch; owner prompted by public concern

Granby (WSYR-TV) -- NewsChannel 9 has received numerous calls, emails and Facebook posts about a dog living under a porch outside a home in Granby. Many have expressed their concern for “Bear’s” well-being.

We heard your concerns and brought the situation to the attention of the town’s dog control officer who says the 8-year-old Akita is a cold climate dog and has always lived outdoors.

She said the dog’s owner visits daily to give him food and water. However, once the owner was made aware of the public’s concern, he decided to move Bear to his new home.

NewsChannel 9 stopped by the home Thursday and found that the dog is no longer living under the porch.
