Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Friends of the family of a mother stabbed to death in Liverpool on Monday are coming together to remember her life and to raise money for the children she has left behind.
Brandy and Justin Dallas have two children together and the two boys are being cared for by her brother.
Sheriff's deputies say the two children were not in the home when Justin Dallas stabbed his estranged wife Brandy.
But when they came home from school on Monday, their mother was dead and their father was behind bars.
David Swain is best friends with Brandy’s brother, who's now taking care of his two nephews.
“He's staying pretty strong because he has to. He’s got two young kids looking up to him. He’s the only man in that family right now,” Swain said.
Swain was also a classmate of Brandy's at Fowler High School and remembers her with the warmest of memories.
“She was just a sweetheart, always did the right thing. Raised two kids, had a good job. Just went through life, loving life and lived it. Lived it to the best she could,” Swain explained.
While Brandy won’t be able to raise her two boys anymore, Swain says a group of family friends is stepping up to the plate to help the best they can.
“It's not going to change what happened, but at least we can make a little bit better in their lives,” Swain said. “We're like family with her brother. His family is our family so we're just looking out for them.”
And making sure they grow up knowing they'll have love and support, no matter what.
Brandy’s friends and family will be hosting an event on Saturday at Ref's Sports Bar on Milton Avenue in Solvay, beginning at 1 p.m.
Tickets to the event are $10 each.
