Better Business Bureau issues Boston Marathon bomb scam warning
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Americans are opening their hearts – and their wallets – in the wake of the Boston Marathon bomb incident.
Many people want to donate to help the families affected by the incident. But the Better Business Bureau warns that scammers are looking to prey on the generosity of people.
The bureau says they are already aware of some poorly conceived charity scams that have emerged.
They say people should watch out for vague appeals that don’t indicate how the money will be used.
In addition, they say to never click on links to charities on unfamiliar websites, or in texts or emails.
