Madison County (WSYR-TV) -- A possible phone scam is circulating in Madison County.
Here’s how it works: Someone from an organization called “Cardholder Services” will call you and ask for personal information about your credit card. They might even say it’s to help you negotiate a lower interest rate. If you try to get in contact with them again, their number is disconnected.
Deputies say this could be part of a nationwide scam that’s been going on for years.
Madison County Undersheriff John Ball says, “If you get these calls, report it immediately to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). It’s a serious offense and we don’t want people becoming victims.”
