Fulton (WSYR-TV) -- Some laid-off Birds Eye workers could soon be back in business.

Fulton Mayor Ron Woodward says a Canadian firm called “Spire Group Limited,” which operates refrigerated storage warehouses in Canada and Europe, is in talks to buy the plant.

If a deal goes through, Spire promises to hire back former Birds Eye workers for several dozen positions in the cold storage warehouse.

Birds Eye closed its doors in December and moved its fruit and vegetable processing operation to Wisconsin and Minnesota.
