GEDDES, NY (WSYR-TV) - From hawks, falcons and owls, to buzzards and eagles, you can get up close with some birds of prey at the New York State Fair.
The Hawk Creek Wildlife Center brought some of its “residents” to the State Fair this year. Staff put on daily shows outside their tent that educate and allow for crowd participation with the birds.
"It makes such a strong impact on kids and it makes a very personal connection. It makes people care about red-tailed hawks because they know ‘Legend,’ because they know ‘Barf’ the turkey vulture. So it makes it personal,” said Tanya Lowe with the Hawk Creek Wildlife Center.
