(CNN) -- Classes have resumed at the University of Central Florida.

Hundreds of students were evacuated after police say they found the body of 30-year-old James Oliver Seevakurmaran -- a former student.

Inside his dorm room, they also found a backpack of bombs alongside weapons.

Police say he had planned a larger attack.

A bomb squad examined the explosive devices and determined them to be safe.

The Orange County Sheriff's office says Seevakurmaran died of a self-inflicted gunshot.

Police were called to the dorm after midnight when a fire alarm went off.

University officials say the dead student shared the dorm room with three roommates. It's unknown where they were at the time of the incident.
