FULTON, NY (WSYR-TV) - A boil water advisory in Fulton will remain in effect at least until Wednesday, according to city officials. The advisory is due to a breakdown at one of the city’s wells.
If you live in Fulton, you should not use or drink water without first boiling it for at least one minute. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation until further notice.
Officials explained the advisory in a press release e-mailed to NewsChannel 9:
“Due to a breakdown at the K-1 well, discolored watered has entered the Fulton water system on the east side. The well was taken off line and will remain so until adequate repairs are made. Because of these high levels of turbidity, there is an increased chance that the water may contain disease-causing organisms. In an effort to combat against the possibility, chlorine levels have been turned up at the Fulton Water Works.”
The boil-water advisory is in effect until further notice.
