Cazenovia (WSYR-TV) – A cat is recovering after being a victim of animal cruelty.
“Bootsy” was found at Selkirk Shores State Park a few weeks ago, but a trip to the veterinarian revealed that the cat had been shot.
Bootsy has had two surgical procedures in the last few weeks.
When the young cat was shot, the bullet narrowly missed her spine. The veterinarian says it likely happened months ago because the wound had healed.
“I was horrified and we would not have known unless someone had done an x-ray,” said Lee Cash with the Cat Coalition.
Members of the Cat Coalition rescued Bootsy and got her the care she needed. The first surgery removed the bullet and the second repaired the damage.
Since then, she has made great strides and the veterinarians’ staff hopes she can be adopted within the next 10 days
But first, the non-profit Cat Coalition
needs help covering the medical bills, which could reach $1,000.
“We are hoping to get donations to help cover her surgeries and also looking for someone to adopt her when she's back to normal, or her new normal,” said Cash.
